Happy New Year To All. I hope year 2022 would be better than 2021 for every one.
Gestalt Ottawa
I graduated as a Gestalt therapist from The Gestalt Institute of the National Capital in 2000-2001 under the guidance of Dr. Richard Richardson and practising since then.
I became very interested in the matter of hypnosis and I continued my education in clinical hypnosis at the Ontario and Albert divisions of the Hypnosis Society.
I am accredited to practice and teach clinical hypnosis in Ontario. I continued my education in Clinical supervision (Peer to Peer consultation) course at the Saint Paul University in 2015. I hosted several international and regional
workshops in the matter of Gestalt, Hypnosis and Art therapy which took place at Amsterdam, Vancouver, and Ottawa.
I am an artist and a poet. I developed a very unique therapeutic model combining these two art forms for use with adult and child clients.
I taught art therapy at Ottawa and in the Netherlands. I still teach Gestalt Therapy, art therapy and clinical hypnosis in group and private sessions.
Gestalt Therapy:
Gestalt therapy involves the interaction between the therapist and their client directed towards the resolution for any troublesome aspect of the client life.
The life experiences of the client become the focal point through a variety of procedures. Dialogue and exercises are used to facilitate desired behaviours and feelings.
Gestalt is based on awareness and living in the present. Gestalt therapy focuses on: time, place, and space. Gestalt methodology highly emphasizes on the self, and self’s contact environment.
It sees the self as a whole. Gestalt therapy also focuses on the dialogue, the processes, and the related experiences. I use client oriented approaches in the session.
Some of these are: dialogues, experiments, homework, two-chair techniques, and so on.
Art Therapy:
Art therapy is used for dealing with mental issues. Art therapy is the understanding of the client’s perception and desired outcomes.
Art therapy is very effective way of dealing with internal and external conflict.
I work with art in a very unique way and important elements in my art sessions are:
•There is no interpretation involved
•It is fun rather that working with techniques
•It is discovering the relation between
visual perception and understanding
•It is discovering the relation between
memory and visual perceptions
•It is discovering dimensional empathy
•It is discovering and utilizing images,
illusions, and orientations
•It is speaking through contextual orientation
rather than verbalizing feelings.
Clinical Hypnosis
Hypnosis is defined as a highly concentrated state of mind and it is a strong tool that helps individuals to maintain their own well-being in a rapid and constant way.
Hypnosis is a skill that can be taught to clients so they can use it on their own, like any other skills, it improves with practice.
Hypnosis is not related to sleep; a client in trance remains aware and has the ability to stop the hypnotic process.
Hypnosis is a process that is done by the client rather than by the therapist and contrary to believe, spontaneous amnesia for events that occur in hypnosis are rare.
Hypnosis is usually used in an adjunct to a broader well accepted approach, such as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Hypnosis is used to help the client gain control over conflict symptoms.
